UK Chart: Final Fantasy XIII Topples Battlefield

Square Enix title jumps straight in at number one on the weekly all formats chart, with the PS3 version leading the charge.

Square Enix’s Final Fantasy XIII jumped straight in at number one on the UK all formats chart during the week ended March 13.

Sales monitor Chart-Track said that the standard PS3 version claimed 45 per cent of overall sales, versus 43 per cent for the Xbox 360 one. The PS3 special edition accounted for nine per cent of total sales and the 360 one for four per cent. Strangely, those figures adds up to 101 per cent.

Final Fantasy XIII has now shipped over five million copies globally.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and Just Dance each dropped one position, to second and third respectively, while Heavy Rain was a non-mover in fourth, ahead of Wii Fit Plus and Modern Warfare 2.

Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing slipped two places to seventh, Aliens Vs Predator was down five spots to eighth, while Wii Sports Resort and New Super Mario Bros. Wii rounded off the top ten.

New entries Ben 10 Alien Force Vilgax Attacks and Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War II: Chaos Rising took 13 and 14 respectively.
